Beginner's Wheel Turning

Saturdays: 10am - 12pm for seven weeks.

$210.00/student (class price includes clay and all glazes and kiln firings up to 50lbs. of moist clay or one half kiln load of bisque-ware per student).
$75.00* per student deposit required to register.
Resident potter Charley Pritchard brings more than 25 years of production experience to this class where students will learn the basic skills of forming pottery vessels on the wheel. Students will have one-on-one instruction with the goal of directing each student towards their own personal artistic vision. No previous clay experience is necessary. New and continuing students are welcome.

In this class we will explore various hand building techniques used in the creation of ceramic objects for the home and garden. Students will learn how to manipulate clay with slab and coil building, press molding and the embellishment of surfaces with techniques such as embossing, appliqué, carving and stamping. No previous clay experience is necessary. All skill levels are welcome as projects will be geared toward each individual's experience and interests. New and continuing students are welcome.

*Cancellation Policy: There is a $75.00 per student per class deposit required to register for each class. The remaining balance is due the first day of class. The deposit is fully refundable up to 7 days prior to the first day of class. If cancellation occurs less than a week before the beginning of class, the deposit is not refundable. If cancellation is necessary due to illness or an emergency, the deposit may be applied towards a future class at Luling Icehouse Pottery.
